High Build Elastic bitumen mastic for spraying application

Cat No.235

A12 is a high build bituminous elastomeric sealant which designated to be applied in thick layer. A12 offers superior waterproofing properties, flexibility and elasticity in wide range of temperatures (-10°c to 90°c). A12 can be applied by spraying or brushing. It is applied cold, and is neither toxic nor flammable.

Application

A12 is used for waterproofing of basement walls, showers and patio floors (prior to tilling), and external walls prior to tiling.

Resistance to impact:

Good

Method of application:

Clean the surface thoroughly to remove all dirt. Roll with cement mortar at all wall-floor seams, if required. Narrow and deep holes should be sealed, using cement mortar. clean the wall surfaces from dust, fat and debris.

Application can be made by spraying, brushing or rolling.

  1. To waterproof basement walls:

  1. If the basement floor was sealed with bitumen membranes, apply a strip of 30 cm of membrane in the corner between the basement walls and the membranes which were applied under basement floor, 15 cm on the walls and 15 cm on the floor.
  2. Apply low heat over the membranes to deposit the dirt and bring out melted bitumen.
  3. Apply a thin layer of A12, 0.5 kg/m², on top of the membranes over the basement floor, using stiff fiber brush, few minutes prior to the application of A12 on basement walls.
  4. Apply A12, using a total quantity of 3.3-4.4 kg/m² (3 - 4 mm dry membrane), depends on depth of the basement and water table level.

e. Allow to dry for 2-4 days after application, depend on layer thickness and weather conditions.

f. Spread a Geotextile Matt, 200 gr/sm², over the waterproofing layer and then, spread smooth protection sheet made of HDPE as Protect 5 prior to covering.

  1. To waterproof bathroom and showers floor prior to tiling:

  1. Clean thoroughly the concrete floor.
  2. Apply a coat of A12 on the horizontal surfaces and the rolled seams, with a stiff hair brush. Use 3 kg/m² of A12 (2.7 mm dry). Allow to dry for 24 hours prior to covering with sand. in case of flooding test, allow to dry for 7 days.
  3. Fill in sand and lay the tiles, or lay ceramic tiles by direct adhesion onto the sealing layer.

  1. To waterproof small patio floor prior to tiling:

General: The infrastructure shall be a stable concrete infrastructure and not foamed concrete (light concrete).

  1. Clean thoroughly the concrete floor.
  2. Apply a coat of A12 on the horizontal surfaces and the rolled seams with a stiff hair brush. Use 4.4 kg/m² of A12 (4 mm dry). Allow to dry for 5 days.

In case of flooding test, allow to dry for 7 days.

  1. Fill in sand and lay the tiles, or lay ceramic tiles by direct adhesion onto the sealing layer.

Consumption

3.3 - 4.4 kg/m² (3 - 4 mm dry membrane) in general, according to the application.

Drying Time

To touch 3-5 hours (in winter time: 5-7 hours)

Resistance of A12 layer to rain (on walls, in 23°c, 50% RH) - 10 hours

Drying period prior to backfilling (  in 23°c, 50% RH) : 2 - 4 days, depend on layer thickness.

Packaging

Notes:

  • Do not store in cans at temperatures under 10°c (50ºf).
  • This product is ready for application and should not be diluted. If appears slightly thick, mix manually or mechanically to reduce viscosity.
  • Use an appropriate “Airless” sprayer to apply the product.
  • Immediately after use, clean tools first with water, then with turpentine.
  • The surface of basement walls or patio floors will be dry for at least 3 days prior to the application of A12.
  • When concrete screed is needed to be applied on top of the waterproofing system, spread 2 polyethylene sheets, 0.2 mm thick, on top of the dry waterproofing system prior to casting of concrete.
  • Do not apply the product on balconies, if rain is expected within the next 4 days.
  • A flooding test may be preformed after 7 days from completing the application.
